Here, there is something for everyone : museums, pieces of art, urban parks, monuments, historic vestiges, architecture, archaeology... Open your eyes, walk in the streets, and take the time to explore, you will not be disappointed.
3 - Book a guided tour
The best way to learn and discover a place is to always do it with a professional guide who can bring you to the most interesting places and give you all the information you need to understand and appreciate what you are watching. Several guided tours are available from Maspalomas and start from the city every day, allowing you to explore different parts of the island in a comfortable bus or in a 4x4 vehicle like a buggy or a jeep. Beware, some excursions are scheduled only once or twice a week. Check the programme with anticipation and book a few days before to be sure to get exactly what you want.
4 - Board a gay boat trip
The gay boat is certainly one of the most unique and popular attractions for gay men in Maspalomas. It is available all year, even in winter, and it is absolutely a must-do for all gay travellers passing by the island. All the gay boats offer a 4-hour sea trip in the afternoon aboard a nice catamaran, with departure from the Yumbo Centre and bus transferts go and back to the port. The price always includes DJ music, full lunch, open bar, banana ride, insurance, and an international multilingual staff. From the boat, you can enjoy the southwest coast of the island and a beautiful sunset. Gay boat trips are only for men over 18 years old, and clothing is optional.
5 - Explore the gay cruising scene
Maspalomas is a real hot place, not only because of the weather but also because of the cruising scene. Indeed, there is a lot to do and a lot of places to visit. Some are just sex bars with backrooms, but most of them have dress codes or specific theme nights like underwear, naked, sportwear, leather, uniforms, etc. It is better to check the website of every club before going to be sure to find the correct night or dress code. Sex bars are mainly open only during the night from 22h to 4h in the morning, but Maspalomas also counts with two porn cinemas open every day from the beginning of the afternoon. Note that there is also a gay men's sauna in Las Palmas, just 50 minutes from the south.
6 - Eat some specialties
In Maspalomas, most of the restaurants try to meet the needs of tourists and offer international cuisine or specific country foods like Asian, Arabic, Italian, Mexican, Scandinavian, Indian, American, etc. So, it's the perfect place to taste worldwide gastronomy ! And of course, you can also find some Canarian and Spanish dishes like tapas, cheese, Iberian ham, or the traditional paella that is on the menu in many places. The good thing is that the prices are not expensive and generally lower than other touristic places in Europe, and also, in Maspalomas, it is always possible to eat outside on an open terrace which is really a great thing. Make the experience, you will love it !
7 - Have a drink on a terrace
Gran Canaria has a long tradition of tropical and colourful cocktails, and Maspalomas is the best place to enjoy one or many. Do not leave the resort without living the experience, comfortably seated on a terrace at a bar or at the swimming pool in your hotel. The most popular cocktail is definitely the Mojito, the classic one with rum, sugar and mint, or flavoured with fruits savours, it is very refreshing and perfect for relaxing. You can ask also for a Piña Colada (with pineapple and coconut) or a Sex on the Beach (a mix of vodka, peach Schnapps, orange and cranberry). If you are looking for the best prices, check the happy hours or two-for-one offers available in the majority of bars in Maspalomas.
8 - Watch the Dunes
Even though it is not allowed to walk as freely as one would like in the dunes of Maspalomas, watching and enjoying the immense expanse of sand is still a must. Simply follow the marked paths and trails to be able to observe this natural phenomenon, which has made Maspalomas famous throughout the world. The dunes are today classified as a protected nature reserve, it is forbidden to climb them, dredge, lie down to sunbathe, etc., but it is still allowed to take magnificent photos and watch the sunset on the horizon. You can also take advantage of the "Mirador de las Dunas" lookout point to enjoy a panoramic view of the entire site. Every day, many people gather there to admire the sunset in a friendly atmosphere with chill-out music. A must-do.

9 - Discover the Yumbo
The Yumbo Centrum is worldwide known as the Gay Shopping Centre of Europe, and it is a must-see in Maspalomas. It has over 200 shops and international restaurants or bars situated over multiple floors, and it is said to be the shopping centre with the highest concentration of gay and gay-friendly establishments in the world. Yumbo Centre is undeniably the epicentre of gay life and gay tourism in Gran Canaria. In general, the Yumbo is not very lively during the day, unless the weather is bad. It is especially at the end of the afternoon (17h in winter and 18h in summer), in the evening, and at night that he comes to life. The more we advance in the day, the more the atmosphere is gay and festive.
10 - Pass by the Cita
The Cita Shopping Centre is the other gay shopping centre in the resort after the Yumbo. Cita Centre hosts many gay local institutions since many years, like the famous Cafe Wien terrace, the older porn theatre on the island, several erotic shops, fashion stores, massage studios, and some bars owned by gay people (most of them are German). The place deserves also a visit for its old-fashioned architecture, typical of the 70s, the decorations, paintings, lights, and sculptures, both outside and inside. This mall is really a curiosity to discover. Finally, note that the men's toilets in this shopping centre are one of the busiest public gay cruising spots in town. The merry-go-round never stops !
