Since February 2025, it is no longer possible to access freely the Roque Nublo area in Gran Canaria using your own car. Discover the new rules, how to go, and how to plan your visit.

Like the Dunes of Maspalomas, the Roque Nublo is a protected natural reserve with specific rules and restrictions. Further, for many years, the access was free, without any control, and up to January 2025, it was possible to go there by yourself, with your own car, and to park on the street for as long as you like, with as many people as you want, with nothing special to do. Those days are now gone.
From the 3rd of February 2025, the Cabildo of Gran Canaria decided to take steps to protect the area and restrict access because the number of visitors each day had become too big to manage and too many to keep the site in a good state of preservation. They said it was about 1800 / 2000 persons daily, so it was not possible to continue on the same way without doing anything. Now the number should down to be around only 300 persons by day.
The main changes involve two new rules :
1 - You can't drive up to Roque Nublo in your own car and park on site as you please
2 - Access is no longer free, and you must plan your visit and book a reservation online

How to access
Access to Roque Nublo is now possible only using the public transport bus by Global, more precisely, the line nº 18. There are two routes you can choose : one from Maspalomas and one from Tejeda, a beautiful typical village close to the Roque Nublo area. There are three departures from Maspalomas every day, at 8h, 9h, and 15h (from the lighthouse) and it takes 1h30 to join the site. Otherwise, you can start from Tejeda, from 9h30 to 18h, and there is a departure minimum every 30 minutes, and if not, every hour. This service is available every day, all year long, including holidays (see timetable below). Please note the bus is not free, and you have to pay your regular transport ticket on board or use a transport card subscription.
For those who will try to go directly to the Roque Nublo with their own car, be carreful; there is no more parking plot available on site, and if you park on the street, you could have to pay a hefty fine; the municipal police are keeping an eye on the area.

How to book your visit
Before coming to visit the Roque Nublo, it is necessary to book your entrance. The number of persons is now limited to only 60 per hour. So do it as much as possible in advance. It is very simple, and you just have to do it online using the website www.reservasroquenublo.com. Once you are on the reservation page, you will find a form to fill it out with your name, first name, and ID number. You will have to select if you are a particular (yes), then the day and the hour of the visit. You will also have to indicate for how many persons you want to book; please note that the maximum is 5.
That's it ! You will receive a confirmation by email, then your access pass with a QR code to show at the moment to enter the zone. The visit time is not limited, so once you are on site, you can stay as long as you want.

Other points good to know :
▪️The best place to park your car is Cruz de Tejeda, where you can use a free public parking lot with a capacity for around 70 cars. Then you can take bus nº 18 and access the Roque Nublo in just a 20-minute ride.
▪️If you are a good hiker, you can choose to go to the Roque Nublo just walking and without using the bus. In this case, you just have to park your car at the Llanos de la Pez, and from then you take a 7.5 km trail that takes you directly to the entrance area.
